I have never touched a D50 before only D44s so my question now is:

Is it normal for the axle shaft to move like this when I have removed the wheel bearing hub

I had so much play in the front wheel so I had to take it apart and it's the wheel bearing that is finito caputt . I assume I need to get the hole bearing hub and not only new bearings?

You need new bearing assemblies and all new seals. you should not need new inner seals ( these seals are found inside the axel tube close to the differential). Have you checked your ball joints? Reason I asked is if you have the axel out you should probably replace those also.

 

yes I have checked the ball joints, I'm trying to find a King pin D60 axle to put under my truck, but this bearing thing is so bad that I have to fix it...
