Shifter locked on auto blown fuse

He guys, Need some info for my boss. He has a 02 f250 sd 4x4 V10.
He has not driven his truck in about a week, everything has always been real good with this truck.
This morning he got in to it and it would not come out of park. we checked the manual and found that fuse #34 was blown. We replaced it and it worked. He shut the truck off, later he went to leave and the fuse was blown again.

what should we look at or for ??

Thanks, Phil

The attached diagram might help you. As you can see, fuse #34 feeds one side of the Brake Pedal Position switch. The BPP switch is attached to the brake pedal. Your problem is most likely a wire shorted to ground in one of the circuits coming off of that side of the BPP. You can see them all in the diagram.

The recall that ProjectSHO so vaguely referred to was a recall to fix a possible short from leaking brake fluid out of the Brake Pressure Switch, which is attached to the Brake Master Cylinder under the hood. The BPS would leak brake fluid onto the connector, causing a short and a fire. The recall was to place a fuse inline with the connector.

Since the Brake Pressure Switch has nothing at all to do with the shift interlock, it is not likely your problem. It is wise however to ensure that that recall has been done if your truck requires it. Look at the wiring to the BPS on the master cylinder and see if there is a fuse there.

Please look up the COMPLETE F34 power distribution circuit.
