Going Posi - Locker? Tru-trak? Powertrax? Front also?

Getting ready to gear down to 4.56 for larger tires and looking at options for both diffs. I have searched and really only see posts that are several years old so I was wondering what everyone is doing for teh posi thing these days. I don't do a lot of off road but occasionally get there and I do haul, occasionally heavy.

Interested in experience with the Detroit soft lock and tru-trak, Powertrax, limited slips, etc. I have been leaning towards a soft locker in the rear and a tru-trak in the front. If anyone is running that configuration I would be very interested in hearing about it.

Thanks.....

Not using those.

In general, an auto-locker in the rear of a truck hauling heavy is not so good of an idea. I like True-Trac in rear.

In front, I lean heavily towards a selectable locker. Steering while locked can be very high effort and high stress. Being able to unlock on command can save big $$$.

I run an Eaton electric locker in the front diff and a Yukon Gear grizzly locker, it's basically a detroit locker. I have put 6500 trouble free miles on so far. I do two up to 10K in my car hauler about 35-40% of the time. No issues.

I had a Detroit tru trac in one of my previous trucks and I am not a fan at all. It was good for sand but anything off camber with one wheel off the ground would still slip. I know it's not a full out locker but after spending the money on the tru trac with installation costs I should have just spent the extra money and got a selectable locker just my .02

I used too Tap the brakes, with my TruTrac, and it would send power to the wheel with traction. I loved my TruTrac!

Tapping the Brakes would throw the worm gears into there pocket's and "lock" it!

"these" mean that it is not a locker, so it wasn't solid, but it was dang close, in a vehicle that has to haul the family, everywhere, the TruTrac was as good as I could get, without a full locker.

I think the stock posi I have in my fx4 is the same if not better than the tru trac. Even when tapping the brake to try to engage it. I think maybe I just had my expectations to high?

Yours is a unique experience. Everyone else I'm aware of that switched from stock (very) limited slip to Truetrac found the Truetrac to be superior.
