GM ignition switch in my Monaco RV! Help me get rid of it please!

I am buying a 1996 Monaco Executive class A diesel pusher RV. Even though this RV is not a GM, the stupid thing has a GM ignition switch!

I'm a Ford man. I like a Ford ignition key in my hand. Makes me feel good.

I need to get a Ford lock cylinder and ignition switch in this thing and toss the GM one in the garbage where it belongs haha.

So this is a dash mounted ignition switch. I don't think Ford has used them in years. The latest one that I can think of is the 1967-1979 Ford trucks and pre-1969 Ford cars. I think the late model Ford stripped chassis trucks use a column mounted switch.

Does anyone have any ideas of what Ford ignition switch and lock cylinder would be best for this?

I'm betting Standard Motor Parts (SMP) would have something perfectly suited for you; maybe Dorman too?

Your biggest issues will be how the new switch fits through the dash board hole and its connections too--both easily overcome if you're creative enough.

Just get a new GM switch. It probably won't be made by GM, it will be made by a aftermarket vendor who gets them made in China, the same place that makes the replacement Ford switches.

I pulled the GM ignition switch and it turns out to be the same one used on 67-72 Chevrolet trucks. Lovely

I am going to install a Motorcraft SW-944 ignition switch and a SW-814 lock cylinder and keys. These were used in all Ford trucks up to about 1977.

I don't care what it takes to make it fit, I willl make it fit.

I just for the Motorcraft SW-944 ignition switch and a SW-814 lock cylinder and keys and the lock cylinder does not fit the ignition switch. Hmmm I wonder if one of those parts are wrong?
