Ford 6.7 diesel m.p.g.

What kind of m.p.g. are you getting on this new diesel engine? I'm getting avg. of 14.5 driving half city and half highway at 65 m.p.h. and easy acceleration.

If I were watching mpg I would think mine is around there too....
only difference is that I don't usually accelerate very easily

and I certainly didn't buy an 8,000 lb 4x4 tall vehicle for the mpg
it's for this:

Varies with terrain, speed, wind, temperature, fuel (bio blend and winter blend), additive helps, cargo, idle time, transmission selector (D, M, or tow-haul), altitude, tires (psi, size), lift kit, dually.

if you think you have a problem we need lots more information. 16 is a normal in town average for average conditions and SRW stock wheel and tire with no lift, summer fuel with additive.

I average around 18 - 19, with a combo of town / highway driving, mostly 2 lane, using cruise when possible

hope that helps

I'm averaging just over 19mpg daily driving, I've hit 23mpg on the highway, and just over 10 towing my 5th wheel.

Nice set up! I bought our truck to tow a fifth wheel too and we test drove the other diesel truck offered by another American car company that also has a 6.7L diesel (guess who) and I was impressed by the Ford when I hit the gas.

Thanks, we towed home from the dealer in MD to MA. Over 12k empty with a 3k pin weight. It was like there was a small utility trailer back there. LOL. I can't imagine the weight that would slow this thing down....

My display is usually showing around 12.2. This is nearly all town driving and I don't know how accurate the truck's computer is. I'll wait till I've got a few thousand miles on it before I calculate it the old fashioned way. Starting with a topped-off tank, and then running through at least 5 tankfull's before dividing it out.

That's exactly how I use to figure out my milage too. I figure the computer is doing a better job. I'll get low to mid 12's too if I step on it in the streets. I only have 280 miles on this baby so far so I'll check again after it's broken in. I know the Cummins takes about 20,000 miles before showing better fuel economy, atleast according to Dependable Dodge dealership. Anybody know how long the 6.7L Ford takes?

Here is a post of mine about my recent fuel mileage on a trip from VA to OH:

Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Single Post - Well........it happened.

It's from this thread:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-happened.html

I have my Trip A that I reset each time I get fuel and my Trip B hasn't been reset for quite a while. I had intended to leave it from the day I got the truck to keep track of all of the mileage, fuel, etc. but had a brainfart in Myrtle Beach SC and reset it by mistake. Currently my Trip B has about 5000 miles on it. If I recall correctly, it's showing an average over that 5000 miles of about 14.9 MPG which includes a ton of driving around town.

I have found the truck computer to be very close to hand calculations. It's normally within .5 mpg of what I calculate, usually closer than that. I know what it says will be close enough.

I wasn't getting much better than 13 mpg with my Tundra, so I figure the trade-off for the extra power is worth it. Now if diesel prices would drop back to the gasoline price range it would be great.

Well, actually this is backwards. Gasoline prices are finally getting back up to the diesel range. Diesel never went down much when the gas finally started dropping. But since the prices have started rising again, at least diesel hasn't risen in conjunction with gas. It's only gone up a little, while gas has gone up nearly $1.00 a gallon. It's almost caught up to diesel.

On my 09 V10, I had a tuner and need to run 93 so the cost between diesel and gas isn't too far apart. Going from 6-7 towing and 9-10 unloaded to 11-12 towing and 17-22 empty was quite the reward......
