Short version - I need to verify the correct part number for the EGR valve for a 1985 F150 with a 300 inline six. The local auto parts stores each have multiple parts listed and they have no idea which one is correct even when I gave them the vin. I called the local Ford dealership and they told me:

E6pz 9d475 m

Can anyone verify this is correct?

Long version - living in California, I have to pass the emissions test before I can get the current tags for the truck. The truck has been idle since June 2009. We got the truck running finally two weekends ago and we took the truck for a 50 mile test drive this past thursday, using the temporary operating permit from the dmv. All seemed well so we took the truck down to the smog test station where we promptly failed due to the nox emmisions being too high. They recommend we check couple things including the EGR valve. The EGR valve looked terrible, bad enough that it could well be the original. There were no markings on it that we could find to indicate a part number. The guy at O'Reillys couldn't find the correct part number and he had three items listed for it, so we all looked at it and guessed. I suspect we guessed wrong. The truck went from running great to running great while cold and dying once it warms up. I need to verify the part number of the correct EGR valve so that I can ensure we have the correct one. Thanks guys.

 

I just checked your truck on RockAuto Auto Parts - they have a slew of EGRs for your truck, but I'm not seeing that particular part number...

E6PZ prefix is usually a service PN if my memory is correct. Try E5TZ-9D474-A, that's the one AllData lists.

 

It list the EVG230 for $35.79 as the correct one, forth from the bottom. Click on the "INFO" and it will give you the list of what it fits. Last one on the list is E6PZ9D475M.

 

That's a handy feature on Rock's site.

 

To look this up in the Ford books is a pain in the *** UNLESS I have the Calibration Code.

Can you find a sticker like this on your engine (probably on the valve cover)?
