No low beams and I have replaced everything!!

Alright so I just bought this truck last week and I have been working out all the bugs.

I had no running lights, gauge lights, cab lights or low beams when I got it. I replaced both the headlight switch and pig tail connector and replaced one blown fuse and now everything works BUT the low beam headlights(high beams work fine and have the entire time). I have a plow on the truck, and I unplugged the plow light harness and plugged the factory connector back into the lights.

There is no power getting to the headlight harness for the low beams, so i guess my question is what else could interrupt the power between the headlight switch and the headlights themselves? Is there some sort or relay or other fuse other than the fuse box under the dash.

This is such a pain in the ***, can't figure out why they are not getting power.

The only thing I know of between the main headlight switch and the headlamps is the high/low beam switch, older models, or the multi-function switch on the column, new models.

I do not have an EVTM for a '89.

If the switch on the floor is bad you will not have any power to the lights. It sounds to me like your switch could be only working on high beams. Also the wires that connect to the switch tend to corrode as they are on the floor...

Switch on the floor? I had no idea there was a switch on the floor. What does it do? I thought the only switch was the one to the left of the steering wheel that you use to turn on the lights

Hi-Low there...

The dimmer switch on your 1991 is on the floorboard high and between the e-brake pedal to the left and the clutch/brake pedals to the right.

I believe Ford's F-Series/Broncos were the last models among all manufacturers to change from the floorboard dimmer switch to the column/stalk mounted style; doing so with the 1992 model year.

What does the switch do? Because the switch to the left of the steering wheel on the dash in my truck currently turns on the high beams, running lights and is a dimmer for the interior lights. So what does that switch in the floor control brights vs low s? Sorry im a little confused about the purpose of the floor board switch...

If it's an 89, then your hi/lo beam switch is the metal cylinder on the floor under your left foot, about 3/4" in diameter.

Uhm, don't be afraid...just push it. It switches your lights between lo/hi beam. It's not gonna set the truck ablaze, no need to find info before you try it...lol. Just take your left foot...and push it. Most likely your lo-beams will come on and your "problem" will be solved!

If not, replace that lil doo hickey and I bet your lo-beams magically have power! Good luck bud...

I will be putting in a new rocker, cab corner and floor pan on the drivers side next week and I will get the hi/lo switch all mounted correctly. Thanks so much for the help guys, I was going insane trying to figure this out1

Cool deal bud! Yea, if people have ever moved the floormat around or replaced it, it can be covered up and, if you don't know these trucks, you'll go bat ****** crazy trying to figure out how to turn your hi-beams on/off...glad ya got it solved!

My lights went out on me while in the city at night, with no chance of getting to a store. I took it out and tested it with my meter and determined it was 'bad.' So I just started clicking it for a few minutes since I had nothing to loose and it read good, just a couple of Ohms, it worked.
