96 F150 fuel pump question

I have a 96 F150 with 4.9L and need to replace the front tank fuel pump. It gets to where it doesn't start or run on the front tank while it runs fine on the rear one, plus I get fuel transfer into the front tank when running on the rear one. I called the parts store and they wanted to know if it was a 2 line or 3 line pump. According to the Haynes manual I have there is only one type of pump used. With no shop, and the truck being my only vehicle I hate to drop the tank, look at the pump then reinstall before I go to the store if I don't have to. Is there an easy way to tell which it is, or are there actually two different pumps to begin with? Thanks in advance guys,

Should be 2 lines. You can fit your hand between the top of the tank and the bed. You should be able to feel the fuel pump that way. If not use a mirror.

Thanks! This thing has been acting up for a couple years now, but lately it is bad enough I really need to replace it. Sometimes I think those parts shop computers are messed up. Though on this truck I have found some things that don't fit with what the factory stickers say are on it, even though I bought it with only 18k miles on it. Replaced the clutch last year and took three tries to get the right one because even though it has the lower GVWR it came with the 11" clutch. The bushing went out on the passengers side control arm for the front axle because the cup was put on backwards(cup was facing the rear instead of covering the bushing) and I need to check actual gear ratio because I don't believe it is 3.08 because I can get into 5th as low as 30mph with no problems.

The three line pumps are used in Trucks, Vans & RV's that need a non pressure fuel source for a mounted gas generator or running an aux engine of some sort. The third non filtered non pressure fuel line will only draw down to 1/4 of a tank of fuel so you will not run the trucks engine out of fuel while setting and running the aux engine.
