seeking 38 gal diesel fuel tank... where is it?
I have a 1985 diesel, F250 XLT Lariat model, with stock 19.5 gallon rear fuel tank which is causing me problems... i have heard that ford makes a stock 38 gallon replacement tank for diesel which will bolt right up to OEM.......
anyone know if there are other sources for purchasing this item? I have had no luck so far locating this tank. some one referred me to the '64 Bronco tank but it is galvanized so wont work for diesel.........is there an after market supplier who may be able to help?
Come on you Ford guys, get er done and let me know if you have any info on this...

You might get more readers if you post this on a diesel forum.
Would this kind of work? Gas Tank, 33 Gallon Plastic 90-96

The stock aft-axle tank is 19 gallons, not 19.5.
The closest thing I can find in the FoMoCo 1980/89 Light Truck Parts Manual (which you can buy yourself on CD from hipoparts.com) is a 40 gal steel tank used by a 1989 F59 stripped-chassis with a 7.3L diesel engine.
Will it fit your F250? No idea. You'll need to get a sending unit & plumbing for it, too.
E9TZ-9002-A Marked E9TD-AG or -AH // Obsolete, no dealers or NOS vendors have any
Might look at what some of the other guys offered, or look into using a tank from an old Bronco.

The aftermarket metal tanks that LMC etc sell are galvanized ni terne steel as well, made by Spectra, meant for gas only. Now if you could rig a sender to work in one of those tanks, you can have it epoxy lined and go that route. Spectra actually says this about their tanks...
(for use with gasoline containing up to 20% ethanol (E20) and diesel containing up to 5% biodiesel (B5))
