EBPV question

Have any of you guys converted your EBPV to an exhaust brake? If so how does it perform?

Seems to work fine, although I haven't needed it much yet.

Just wondering, haven't heard anybody talk too much about. Seems to be cheaper than buying an exhaust brake.

That's a good lookin '69 Bronco you got! I sold my '69 back in the summer. It was one of many projects that nothing was getting done to and I needed the money for other things. Oh well, it only took me 12 years to find that one, I'll find another.LOL

Thanks Man. I have lots of ideas but so far I have just made it road worthy and just a few little Mods here and there. It used to be my daily driver until this winter. I installed power steering this last summer and with the 3 1/2" left that really brought out the bad steering geometry. So I corrected the camber by installing 7° bushings and now the front driveline is so steep it binds up if under a little bit of pull or angle. Always something.

The driveline is so short in those things, lifts are hard on em. Mine had 4" suspension and 3" body. Got it that way, they used it for a stump jumper!
Yours looks alot better than mine did. I kinda miss it. Love them things.

I converted the EBPV to an exhaust brake and works fine for me, I love it. As mine its an auto I had to add a switch to lock up the TC.

I found this the other night. It's for manual trans, but there is also a diagram for automatics too I believe. Looked pretty simple.

Thats the diagram (automatic) I used to do mine, except the part for the brake master cylinder and I used two separated switches, so I can just activate the EBPV or just the TC lock up independiently, or both at the same time when use it as an exhaust brake.

That's pretty cool. The crw cab I'm building will have a manual and I just bought a '97 250 ext cab with an automatic. I'll try this on the auto if I ever get the thing home and get the tranny changed out. It's got a bad E4OD but I have one to put in it. Just waitin on my buddy with a rollback to get freed up long enough to go get it.

I also have an auto and have installed two separate switches, one for the TC and one for the EBPV.
