Well I figure better late than never its been awhile but I just got my chip back and the chip tested out fine. I had them wipe it clean and re do the tunes as well Just installed it and it still runs the same. I put the scanner to it and put the chip at its highest hp
(80HP) and I got 2700psi wide open and 2400 on stock & smoke runs ok on smoke and stock and still runs like crap on any other tune.....what else could it be IDM?

Thanks,
Joe

All this happened after the chip was installed? How did it / does it run without the chip?

Joe, I can't find a valid code P0196 ... was that a typo?

Truck might be DE-fueling due to over boost situation with chip. Do you know what your boost is when this happens? The boost the PCM is reporting as read with a scanner and not a mechanical gauge boost reading.

Try unplugging the MAP sensor and let the PCM estimate boost and see if the problems improves. With the MAP unplugged you will get a CEL but it will go away when you plug it back in.

Yes, I don't know what scanner you are using but BOOST is a valid PID. I am using Interceptor Scan Gauge and it's the only one I have so can't help you on other models.

Maybe someone on here that has the snap on can chime in and helps us out on getting it to read boost. Also 75 PSI is a bit high on fuel pressure. Ideally 60-65 PSI is the sweet spot, not saying that is your issue, just want to make sure we are not introducing a problem. Remember, the higher the fuel pressure the harder it is for the injectors to open.

Jim,
I unhooked the map sensor......and it seems to run a lot better but now the question is where do I buy a new one and what do they cost?

Thanks for everything

Joe, they are kinda expensive, around $150 and the last one I saw on e-bay went for $70. There is a tech bulletin where Ford put some bar 2 MAP's instead of bar 3 MAP's on certain trucks but don't know if that is your issue. I think you should be good depending on the boost numbers but MAP sensors do fail. I simply hate suggesting someone buy an expensive sensor without supporting data, such as how high is the boost number when issues occur?
