I'll be headed back to SoCal on Sunday morning...so my weekend is only half of one this time!

Good morning everyone! Starting a seven day stretch at work today. I might be the babbling idiot when it's all done.... Good thing I got a week vacation the end of the month.

Morning Rob. Figured I should say hello and try to get to know some of the folks. How is South Dakota this time of year? I am in Idaho right now and it is cold!

 

It's supposed to be cold and snowy here this time of year. It actually is pretty cold this week. Still no snow on this end of SD. It's been pretty dry out west in the Black Hills this winter too.

Haven't been to Idaho in a few years. Used to pass through there now and then when I lived in Montana. Almost took a job transfer to Boise a few years back.

 

I am a bit outside Boise in Nampa. Still beautiful. The economy is still a bit depressed here but I think it is picking up. A lot more of the buildings I saw empty last year have new tenants and people seem to be going out more. The restaurants have been pretty packed this trip, last year most were pretty much vacant.

 

I was hesitant on going to Boise, figured it wouldn't be very stable. But, turned out my job in MT wasn't stable either which is why I ended up moving to the Midwest.

 

Halliburton really helps the economy in SD I would imagine.

 

I think they are in North Dakota... We don't have any oil fields here that I'm aware of.

We've got Hyperion Energy trying to get approval to build a new refinery in this area. The environmentalists are having a fit and filing lawsuits every time the company gets one step further. This area is just barely limping along economically and the 1200+ jobs the refinery would create would be a nice boost.
