Navigation Question

I know we have Sync and Navteq Navigation...

But what is the differance between Ford Mytouch and what we have?

Ford My Touch has an upgrade to 2010-current My Touch Ford Customers.

This upgrade wont be compaitable with our systems will it?

Thanks,

I don't believe our hardware supports it.

I dunno but as an FYI on my list of chores next week is to find out if there is a map update for our nav system. If so I will be getting it and installing.

I just checked the NAVTEQ site and they do not list an update yet for the 2011 model year.

NAVTEQ - Maps for your Navigation System

I like to keep things up to date but $200 per update is a little steep. Especially since I have sent them about 100 corrections to their existing data.

Two updates would buy a brand new Garmin....that's up to date.

I called navteq last week....they are coming out with a new map within 30-45 days.

If you have a job 1 navigation 3.ox software.....mine was made in may of 2010. Just missed the 3.1x by a couple month. There is an updated out,...but I'm waiting for the next which will be again in 30-45 days.

My current software as others is Sept 2009!!! Was the only software out when the new super duties were being built...then they changed to the current like July 2010.. To current. Every 12-18 months there is new update....well navteq said its due.....just waiting for Ford to give them the ok to release it.

Or soi was told.

200 bucks ??? I do not think any update is worth that kind of money. They can keep it.

I just received the update a few days ago. It is a package with 4 DVDs of programs and data. Very easy to install. Two are for the system and two are for the map updates and Gracenote. It brings the maps up to version 5.1. It took about two hours to complete the entire upgrade.

There's a big difference between My Ford Touch and the Nav we have, shane. My wife's 2011 Explorer has the my ford touch system and while there are definitely similarities, it's a whole different system. Honestly, there are issues I dont like about hte MFT one. For instance, the main screen is a lot bigger, but it doesn't default to the split nav/info screen like my 250 does. I have to touch the nav button to see nav every time I get in the car... and there is no splitscreen option.

that said, there are other cool things, like having a total of 3 info screens. There are two in the dash plus the big one. The left dash screen is a lot like our dash info screen (plus some cool options) but the right one is like a text version of the big screen. All the radio, nav, etc. info is displayed there. Each screen on the dash has its own directional pad on the steering wheel, too. pretty cool. Would be perfect if it had the default split screen
