Two things I did to my '96 F350/460 truck.
Remove the rubber intake tubes, there is a center plastic section. On the air filter side of that plastic piece there is a restriction tube. It is there to remove "noise", kinda that 4bbl no air cleaner lid type sound. Using a hacksaw, cut them off, but leave enough to secure the pipe back on.
If you run good enough gas, you can also bump the timing up a couple degrees to add some umph. Remove the spout plug, start truck and add timing. Shut off and install spout.
With those two items, mine went from "lame" to actually being able to turn the tires from a stop(not powerbraking, just matt the throttle). Not bad for a 1 ton dually. Mine drug my 14K trailer without too much hassle.
