Did Ford change from a aluminum to steel driveshaft?
I noticed on a recent video that one guys driveshaft was all rusty looking. But mine still looks new. Did they do this when switching to the non-finned cover?
2011 F-350 SRW manufactured 12/10.
My driveshaft and differential cover are made of rust.
I never noticed that until now. The finned aluminum differential cover must have been a carryover from the 2008-2010 models. I'm disappointed now!
Possible that the two piece driveshaft on the long bed are steel. Can anybody confirm that? Mine is a 6/10 build SWB. I have the alu. Driveshaft and cover

Mine is SWB build date 8/11, has alum shaft but steel cover.
Still early in the poll but sure looks like the long wheel base gets steel shafts. Finned cover seems random though. My money is on PowerstrokeHD telling us the facts!
