Did Ford change from a aluminum to steel driveshaft?

I noticed on a recent video that one guys driveshaft was all rusty looking. But mine still looks new. Did they do this when switching to the non-finned cover?

2011 F-350 SRW manufactured 12/10.
My driveshaft and differential cover are made of rust.
I never noticed that until now. The finned aluminum differential cover must have been a carryover from the 2008-2010 models. I'm disappointed now!

Doesn't it depend on the wheelbase of the vehicle?

Finned diff cover comes with the camper package.

My truck has a 6/11 build date and have alum drive shaft. No finned cover since it doesn't have the camper package.

Still early in the poll but sure looks like the long wheel base gets steel shafts. Finned cover seems random though. My money is on PowerstrokeHD telling us the facts!

Does the diff cover have anything to do with the locking rear axle? Mine has aluminum driveshaft and aluminum cover, with locking rear diff, shortbed.
