Quick timing question

Great write up again lol, yeah i've got a vacc gauge i tune everything with it, i wouldn't be able to rebuild carbs without it. It's probably my favorite tool, my timing light however is a total piece of crap but does the job. Anyways, last night after work i decided to hook the advance up to a manifold source and B-I-N-G-O she instantly runs much better, i then backed off the idle speed because it picked up by about 400-500 RPMs. Took it for a test drive and it's not pinging at all so i left the initial timing at 10 degrees. At idle i can't even hear it running now, it's really smooth. It stumbles very slightly and sparatically every so often but I'm pretty sure that's from the feedback carb running solo.
Speaking of that feedback carb, even running solo it doesn't do a terrible job, but i also rebuilt it too. I was surprised that the kit for a 1barrel with barley any hard parts cost 53$.
Also I've already checked this engine over good, i didn't want to waste money revamping anything if there was anything internally wrong. I get pretty much solid readouts all the way around. I get a steadier and slightly higher vacc readout at idle with the advance on a manifold source of vacc.
Unbelievably this truck only has 53k millage, so i was doubtful that there was anything wrong internally anyways, but i checked just to make sure.
The ignition system is 100% new / remaned. No worries there.
As for whats left of the EGR, this coming paycheck I'm picking up an offy C-series intake manifold, and I've got a holley 600/ 650 (not sure because i keep forgetting to go grab it and check the numbers ) that I'm going to rebuild and use. Next month sometime i'll be picking up a header and running new exhaust and that'll be it for modifications, being that this is my daily driver i'm keeping the modifications to bolt ons only for now.
If you're wondering, the reason why i started deleting the emissions is because when i bought the truck most of the equipment was gone already. Plus i saw the potential this engine has for better performance, and at the same time gaining some fuel economy.
On a totally different note, i think somebody re geared this truck. Tell me if this sounds off too you guys, my truck will gladly to 17MPH at 2400 RPM in 1st gear. 2nd gear will do up to 30-35 between 2800-3000 RPM. I've got a four speed manual trans.
