My 1990 Lariat doesn't, and I'm curious if it should.

yes they usually did (for the most part), best way to tell is if you can see a bulb/socket it has one, most trucks/cars from 1980 (i think) had one...or do...

OK, I turned the lights on and looked in the ashtray and can see light through a hole in the top. I think the socket came out and is just hanging in the dash. Does this sound likely? I think I will remove the ashtray and look.

OK, I see it. It's just not snapped in. How do you remove the ashtray assembly?

Just pull the whole thing forward.
It should pop off the pivots.
At least my '87 does...

It was part of the "convenience package" to have the glove box light and astray light.

Non of my trucks have it, but my fully loaded parts 1990 F150 had them.

Aren't we luckey

All my trucks are basic Customs. Except the camper, that's an XL.

And the van isn't even a custom, it's a trimless. AM radio and all

My 87 XL has that snazzy "convenience package"...has an underhood light (currently not working-needs a bulb...d'oh!), ashtray light, glovebox light and the dome light with the two "map lights" on it...the only thing it seems to be missing (that I'll probably add) is lights under the dash, in the corners...

Yea..I never understood why those underdash lights weren't in there from the factory. If you do the mod, take pics and post.

I removed the trim and radio today to get to the light and snapped it back into place and it works perfectly.

Thank you all.

Where would these be located? I've never seen any on these trucks before. What package did they come with? My Lariat has all the other lights.

For future reference, to remove the ashtray all you have to do is pull off the black/wood trim and remove the two 7mm screws holding in the metal part of the tray then pull it out.
