6.0L No Start (new to site)

Just wanted to put up a quick post because I am new to the site. I have a 2005 F-250 Super Duty 6.0L. My truck has around 135,000 miles and never had any issues. When I was on my way to work yesterday the truck just shut off and wont start. The truck will crank all day long, but no start. When I was searching the internet for any type of help I ran across this site. I have been racing cars for years so I have have some mechanical knowledge. I found the 6.0L tech section and just wanted to say that it is a very impressive list and looks very helpful. I am going to start checking some things on this list tomorrow. I will keep those who are intersted on my updates. Lets hope that its something simple. Thanks for all the help in advance.

-Matt

Get a Scanguage II (at autozone,amazon.com,scanguage.com) for around 150 bucks although it has been cheaper on some sites for the holidays. With the scanguage you can see how your high pressure oil pump (hpop) is acting during cranking. My truck is an 05 and died when we pulled into the driveway, got the scanguage and diagnosed it as being the stc fitting on the hpop. Changed my standpipes and dummy plugs on the oil rails (right under the valve covers) and replaced my stc fitting at the pump (unfortunately under the turbo which all has to be removed) and has never started faster. Not saying that is the same thing as yours but the scanguage can help you determine that. Maybe your issue is simple. Would also monitor the ficm voltage which again can be done with the scanguage. Thats just my story. Good luck.

So I went and got a scan tool from Autozone. The only code I have is P2285 for the Injector Control Pressure sensor. I am going to run a test on the sensor now and keep everybody updated.

Thanks for the help.

I just unpluged the ICP sensor and first try was for about 20 seconds and no start. Second try was for about 30 seconds and still nothing. I have the truck plugged in (due to it being in the 30's here in Michigan) and I have it on a batter charger now. I think I need to recharge the batteries before I do any further testing. Right now they are only at 10v each after trying to crank it. The only code I have is the P2285 code.

I did forget to say that the ICP sensor is dirty and and looks like oil has been leaving from it for a while.

You may have a bad ICP sensor but I'm going with STC fitting blown out. If it was the ICP sensor you'd be able to disconnect it and the truck would start by default value.

Like I said before Diesel engines are new for me to work on but I do have a lot of mechanical knowledge. Where would the STC fitting be located at?
