Looking at the 047 on Rancho's site, it looks like it's made for the F-350 with a 2.5" lift (RS6511 or RS6525B).

The part number for the F-250 with the 2.5" lift (or stock F-350) is the 254. It's the same part number for the stock F-250 as well, so one shock looks like it's covering 3 applications (stock F250,F250 w/ 2.5" lift, stock F350).

I have the 254's, no problems, Steve has the 047's and no problems. Looks like either one works.

Looks like we have a clear answer on the fronts at least..
Thanks Silverbullet, got your PM - reps to ya for that.

I will flip a coin for the rear number...just wanted to make sure that I don't lift it as it clears the garage door by about 1 1/2" at the top, really wanted the cab lights but I knew I would probably smack them at some point....

I went round and round with some folks on this. I was able to get the CORRECT info from Rancho. They do make the 9000XL shocks for stock height (F-250s anyway) and I bought them. Several dealers told me different stories. Not sure if the F-350 is the same. Check specifically with the Rancho tech guys. You can call them. They answer their phones.

Also, the way the roof is designed and the placement of them, the marker lights do not increase the height of your truck at all.

I emailed the tech guys from their web page and this is what they said:

Question / Message - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I want to replace my OEM shocks with the RS9000XL 9 way adjustable shocks.

What part numbers do I need?

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Rancho products. I am sorry but we do not have anything ready for the 2012 model year at this time.

For further questions or assistance, please contact technical assistance at 734-384-7804 M - F 8:30am - 5:30pm EST.

Follow on question:
Does that also apply to the 2011 MY?

And the answer was:
Thank you for your interest in Rancho products. We do not offer any stock height shocks for the 2011 F350. We only offer them for the 2011 with one of our Rancho lift kits installed.

For further questions or assistance, please contact technical assistance at 734-384-7804 M - F 8:30am - 5:30pm EST.

Rancho Team Member,
Adam

That was March 1st and 2nd 2012, sorry I tried to copy and paste the email string in but it did not read very well, even after trying to clean it up.

According to them I am out of luck...

And the guide says this about the F350 (the F250 was not in the drop down once 2011 had been selected, only F150 and F350)
Rancho Suspension: Upgrade Your Shocks

And when selecting 2010 MY all vehicles all options are available and it does come back with the numbers Dim Sum used. Which goes back also to what he was saying about the site being messed up (or dipping into the wrong database maybe???

Rancho Suspension: Upgrade Your Shocks

Anyway the numbers I will probably purchase will be the 999042 and the 999047

Note: Sorry - it took me so long to type this up it appears the site did an autosave and posted the darn thing before I was finished

I really wasn't impressed with Rancho at all. Luckly these shocks rock, but I don't defend them and their business practices. Make it hard for me to spend my money and I'll go elsewhere.

As for the cab lights.....I want them to. I only have 1 inch or less of clearance at my garage. I still don't know if I will have the room.

After following this entire thread over the past few days, I called Rancho Tech Support today and the guy told me "at this time we do not have a shock for my application: Stock height 2012 F250. I asked if he had shocks for a 2011 F250 adn got the exact same answer. This is very frustratiiong. So I am left to wonder if the stock F250 takes a rear RS9000XL of RS999254 and front of RS999042.

I had Rancho 9000s on my F150 I traded on this F250 and really liked them. But the ambiguity of the fitment of the right shock makes no sense to me.

Rancho is a FTE sponsor and Matt can probably help you. You should send him a private message here: Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Profile: Rancho Suspension

Sorry Epic but I tried to PM him still have had no response from Matt, must still be cleaning up from being away last week...

Michael, follow this link for the 250...
Rancho Suspension: Suspension » 2011 F250 / F350 Super Duty 4WD Suspension Systems, Lift Kits, Leveling Systems & Shocks
It says specifically for the 2011 F250 only and yes the stock P/N's are 999042 and 999254.

Also thanks to those that tried to explain that shocks do not lift the vehicle...do not know why that took so long for me to figure out

gsxr1300, Yes, I did get my Rancho's installed 2 weekends ago. The shocks were an easy install but then I also installed the Rancho My Ride Wireless controller. This also was a fairly easy install - just time consuming running all the hoses and wires, zip tying them and putting them into wire protectors. The video by Steve (KC8QV0) was a big help- although i installed my hoses and controller differently. The primary difference with my install is that I installed my compressor and controller under the cab on the driver's side frame rail and used Aux4 for power.

One word of caution, I originally ordered my set of shock from truckaddons.com. I've done my first and last business with them. Long story short, they messed up my order, losing my credit card information, but not telling me. I only found out only when I called after not having received delivery after a week. So I had to pay $40 to get them sent out via 2 day UPS delivery. And I still did not get them for another week - and only received half the order to boot. They goofs shipped them via truck freight - not 2nd day UPS.

In the meantime, I ordered the shocks from Summit Racing and received them next day. I should have known to buy from Summit to begin with - I've spent thousands with them via dozens of orders in the last 2 years on engine rebuild parts for my 67 Camaro - without a single problem.

Once I received the 2 shocks from truckaddons.com I called them and they tried giving me a hassle about returning the screwed up order, but I finally prevailed after getting through to the manager. I learned my lesson - and my advice is don't buy from them.

But the shocks and My Ride controller work great. Love them - easy install and easy to adjust.
- Mike

Cool truckaddons.com

There is more to the story with truckaddons.com : While they only shipped two shocks to me, I realized this morning that they actually charged me for two shipments of 2 sets - $149.98 on 3/16 and then $189.98 on 3/19 ($40 for 2nd days shipping which took 5 days).

I do not think these guys are intentionally doing something out-of-line, they seem honest, I just think their systems and processes are a problem. Maybe they have outgrown their small business systems?

On the phone with them now trying to get the $189.98 refunded now.

I may have been lucky?? I ordered shocks from TruckAddOns. No problems. Recently ordered the MyRide Wireless. Arrive quickly
Now the question...... I would like to hear/see more on where you decided to place the compressor and the Control Box. I am thinking inside the cab to keep the units out of the water/ice/snow and?? Engine compartment??? is it too Hot in there when towing on 110 degree F days up the Rocky Mtn passes. Your thoughts / discoveries ect. would be Great

Sailor_Roy, I looked under the hood also worried about the elements but frankly there is just not a lot of room under there for much of anything. So I mounted mine on the frame rail under the Cab on the driver's side. While water and salt will be an issue, I couldn't see trying to fit it under the hood. I will likely end up building some kind of protector cover for it. I did seal all electrical connections with heat sink and wrapped them in wire protectors.

As for truckaddons.com, I did finally get restitution on the 2nd set of shocks that did not ship.
