7.3 PSD Swap Project into 2005 V10 Excursion
#226
Nice work today Jon. I looked at the seat sections of the wiring harness and it does not appear from the pictures like the seat plugs plugged into the harness nearby. It looks like they are more integrated than I was hoping. Good luck with the rest of the work and I hope your dad is feeling better from his fall.
I do think it would be easier to modify the existing harness rather than wiring in the new one.

If anyone is looking at getting into a similar project, here's one going up for auction on Thursday morning. You have to have a scrapper/rebuilder license, or use a bidding service, since it has a salvage title. This was a big problem for me, which I why it took me so long to find both a nice one and one that I could even bid on.

Here's a small update for today.
First of all, I focused on cleaning things up. I think before I know it, the boat will be going in or we'll be pulling another Excursion apart, so we need the space. I decided all the spare parts are going up in the attic until I'm ready to start selling again or until I need them. This gave me the chance to get things really cleaned up so I'm not tripping over stuff.
We also got the engine on the stand today. The angles for the motor mounts were perfect. The trans mount, not so much. The transfer case sticks down and hits the back of the stand, so it won't quite sit right. We propped it with a 2x4. The whole cart also sags a lot more in the center than expected, which is why the jacks are under it now.
It's really amazing how easily this Excursion rolls now. I can get it rolling with very little effort, and keep in mind there's 30 gallons of fuel out back still.
Oh, I also got the rest of the rear cladding off too.
Here's a few pictures:
Got the garage floor swept too!
Still wondering if this means California emissions or not?

If anyone is wondering about that phrase for any other motors, that is the standard "legal-ese" for meeting CARB (California Air Resources Board) compliance. The verbiage changes every few years, slightly, but that is a compliance statement.
What strikes me as funny is that on my 2000, the federal statements refer to my truck as a "Heavy Duty" truck...why a 7.3 in 2002 is "medium duty" when a 6.8 in 2000 is "heavy duty" baffles me...
