I was nice I didn't say anything about the darkside.... But I thought about talking about rear end, disk brake conversion, new style wheels, engine or trans... And I didn't even say anything about cookies on the darkside.... Opps I just let the cat out of the bag... Merry Christmas....

Fine looking truck you have there Ed. I'm continually amazed how well the vehicles from the desert have aged. Don't get too eager to make all the decisions right away - especially on the power plant and gearing. Some of this stuff will sort itself out if you aren't too rushed.

Happy Motoring!

Welcome Ed! What a great plan for a restoration! I'm looking forward to seeing how the truck comes together. We have a few things in common... I have family in Phoenix, also have a F3 (48 flatbed) and live just a few minutes from Route 66 here in Central IL. I drive the Mother Road every day. I'm planning to check out your website.

I see the darksiders are already calling you but being a preservation guy I'm sure you'll fight off the temptation!

Question / help:

I am going to do this truck two-tone to match up the Richfield colors:

The Yellow will go where the Green is - the Blue will go where the Black is...

I will probably go with a black rubber floor. Now, I am debating if I want the cab (inside) to be mostly yellow - or should I go with another color?
If another color, what color would match the exterior paint scheme (I thought about bringing the blue inside as well or maybe tan) - and remember - I am in PHX, so an 'all black cab' makes for a miserable drive!!

Inside of cab was usually painted the same color as the outside of the cab.

I know but as I mentioned - I am not sure I want to be staring at all yellow around me...

If it was a factory paint job, the metal portions of the interior (dash, header, doors, jambs, etc.) would have been painted the same as the outside of the cab. In your case, yellow. That would most likely have been accompanied by the tan interior trim panels; headliner, cab back and kick panels, and seat. The floor mat only came in black. It would be a good looking combo, imho.

This is all hypothetical, since what you're proposing was not a standard production option. If it was real, it could have been special fleet order from Richfield to Ford and may have looked like I described above, or it could have had the exterior custom painted in the Richfield colors after delivery to the dealer, in which case the interior could be anything, matching or not.

You can always paint the same blue as on the exterior inside the cab.

I was thinking that too - I will 'mock up my model / sketch pad' to see what will look good.

I might want to talk to you about some parts you have BTW...

Thanks!
