Just joined the site and wanted to give a big thanks to everyone for their advice. I bought a 1949 F3 this past summer and I have been trying to learn as much as I can about these old trucks. It would have been difficult without this site. I was going to need new tires at some point and learned about the world of widomakers. Went out and found a set of 19.5"s, not easy but necessary. Thanks Stu. I have learned to double clutch after reading a thread here about it. Thanks kcb37, 51 dueller, Bobj49f2 and others. I got hooked real bad and have since bought a 1950 F2 and a 1948 F1. These will keep me busy for a while. Looking forward to learning more. I will attempt to post a picture ASAP.
Welcome to the group. Glad to have you hanging around. Sounds like you've done your homework and have a great start. And you've already found a set of the super rare SRW 19.5s (should be Budd #71410). There's no better fix for the stock widowmaker problems. Posting pictures is easy if you set up a Photobucket or other photo sharing account. Stu
As you pause in your truck buying frenzy - not that there's anything wrong with that - check the Tips link at the top of the topic roster to help with the pic loading.
Thanks for the help. I think I may have it now. These are my other two. The black 1949 F-3 runs and drives good. The 1950 F-2 (the pumpkin) engine runs but brakes need to be checked out.
