Very Nice! Everything you do ends up looking like it belongs there. Keep it up!

I like the look of that bumper.

Nice work Scott (as usual).

Thanks guys.
I wasn't really in love with the bumper at the start, but it's going to work out fine.
The beat up chrome kinda matches the beat up look of the rest of the truck.

Well, this thread kinda fizzled out..............

To be honest, I got kinda burnt out on this project and needed a break from it. After driving it a bit, I found my brakes weren't working right.....and the engine has an internal noise. Probably piston related. It runs and I can drive it, but the engine will have to come back out. I gambled on the condition of the engine....and lost.
All of this kinda took the wind out of my sails for a while, but now I think I'm ready to dive in again.

Gonna start with the brake problem first, also picked up some new coils for the front. It sits just a bit too low.

Anyhow, just thought I'd update......

Keep the faith Scott. Yesterday I finally recovered from an extreme setback with my used clutch components. These blow-buck builds can take their toll, but I know in the end you will have created another masterpiece of back-yard engineering. My favorite part of this 'hobby'.

I've been wondering what was happening with this truck...

Everything I've seen you do looks remarkable. Your fab skills are incredible.

Sorry the engine and brakes are a problem, and it's understandable and perfectly normal to be discouraged. But we all know you'll get er done.

And of course, we want to see the pics...

If anyone deserved a little break from body, fab, and paint work it was certainly you. If doing it for a living wasn't enough, your one of those selfless guys that can not say no to a friend in need. Hey what can I say anyone that possesses your skill's is going to be in high demand, so as hard as it is to say no to a friend it's up to you to pace yourself or you will burn out. Im glad to hear that you chose to take a little time for yourself, but Im really glad to hear your ready to pick up where you left off on your project. I will never forget the help you have given me, or offered me over the years. You are one of the many very talented and extremely generous members of this place I call home (FTE), and I wish you continued happiness and success in all you do. Rock on Scott, and show us how it's done.

From my experiences with the big Ford 6......drive the heck out of it. Oh sure, it might make a bit of noise, but the danged thing will run forever.

My big Caddy engine makes a bit of noise here and there. It was a low buck thing also. The poor old thing had 130K when I put it in the truck. I put a new timing chain and oil pump and called it good. The lifters clatter a bit on first start and someday I'll need to do a full overhaul....but for now......drive the danged thing.

Fix those brakes and driver it

That's the plan for now Bobby....
Funny thing is, I drove the donor truck around for awhile and didn't notice the noise. But it didn't have a muffler either. The engine runs sweet otherwise.

The brake issue is now resolved, I hope. My "new" brake booster wasn't working. Replaced it and everything seems to work. Will road test tomorrow.

Finally, thanks to all for your kind words and encouragement!

I put the new coil springs in the front today. It raised the front about 2".......not as "cool" looking, but more functional. Has a bit more suspension travel now.

Second pic; why does every flat surface in my shop magically attract "stuff"????

Very cool. The strength of crap magnets cannot be resisted and does ensure that all available space is misused.

Wait. Isn't that what flatbeds are for? Mine almost always has something on it that doesn't belong there.

Well, it did before I removed it. The "new one is going on tomorrow...

I like that stance.

That is a sweet looking 65/66 in your shop!
