I just found this thread while searching for ford COE projects. I am currently working on putting a 51 ford COE on a newer chassis. Imagine my delight when I get to the end of the thread and discover that it is still active! I love the custom work that you have done and it is very inspirational. The first thing I will do now is start a build thread for my 51... unfortunately, I don't have the metalworking skills that you have... but after this project is done I will be a little bit closer.

Not only have you done really nice work, but I appreciate the time that you have taken to document and photograph all that you have done over the last 3 years. It's really great stuff.

MrCarlsong, yes Scott is one skilled craftsman. I'm glad you found this thread.
Be sure to start your build thread and take lots of pictures. I think build threads have three main functions.
1. Feed our addiction
2. Help you solve problems and prevent costly mistakes
3. Help others coming up to know they can do it and give them direction.
4. Feed our addiction.

Take lots of pictures and share in your thread. Also, add your thread to your signature so people can find it easier.

Welcome to the COE world! Have fun with your build.....I will be following.

My project has been very challenging and a lot of fun. I honestly could not have done it without the fine group of folks here on FTE, Thank you to all!

Scott has inspired many of us to try the things we thought were too difficult just months ago. There are a great bunch of skilled craftsmen here to learn from.

My cab was missing some parts when I got it, including the inspection panels on the inner doors. These are the same as the regular trucks....except for the front lower corner. It needed a little re-shape.
So I made a pattern, then a buck(from MDF) to shape the edge over. Little trimming, couple clamps and some gentle tapping. Worked pretty good.

Any of you COE guys missing the covers and want to borrow the pattern or buck, let me know.

First drive! Sorta..........

Had the truck moving under it's own power today. Drove it out of the shop to the end of the driveway, turned around and drove back. The dirt road I live on is a quagmire right now with the snow melt and frost coming out, so I didn't venture very far.
This thing is a hoot to drive.......big grins!!!!
Can't wait to get it on the road.

Pic for proof...
