Just out of curiosity, why not wrap it all in leather like you will use on the seats? I should figure it would be the same to work with, but you would have a much higher quality end product.

I would really love to use leather on everything, but my trucks lifted and cant fit in my dads garage. The only shade I get is from the tree I park it under. So right now I cant justify doing everything in leather when it sits in the 100 degree summer sun. Plus leather is like $400 a hide. The vinyl Im using is actually pretty nice, alot better than the last junk I used. It has a leather grain and feels like leather. It just doesnt smell like leather. One day Ill probably do it all in leather, but not now.

Heres a couple more pics in better light. Im gonna try and get the sun visors finished this weekend and start on the doors. Ill try and take a lot of pics while everythings apart. Also the grille in the middle of the dash is where I hid my tweeters for my kickpanel speakers. Does anyone know why theres even a grille there there was never a speaker or any vent there? I was just wondering.

I think the speaker there was an option.

Under that grill is where I'll be putting the external speaker for my race/chase radio (similar to police/fire type communication radio)

Of the dozen or so of these trucks that I have owned, or now own, they have all had the radio speaker in that location, stock AM radio. AM / FM would have speakers in the doors.
Absolutely awsome work on wrapping that dash and especially on the headliner trim. Someday I will have an interior done this way.

How did you actually wrap the trim with vinyl and get it to hold until you screwed it on?

I believe he mentioned several times what kind of glue he is using to hold everything together.

Yeah, I know he mentioned it for the main stuff, so I guess he used it on the trim, but I was just amazed at how well the vinyl is conformed to the metal. It looks really good

lookin sharp! did you use a roller to smooth it all out while applying it?

I guess the vynal is not too heavy for the headliner huh?

The weldwood top and trim glue is ridiculous stuff. once whatever your gluing sticks together its basically stuck so getting it to conform to different curves is pretty easy. The hardest part was trimming the vinyl around where the two pieces join. The moulding that sits on top of the bottom piece needed to have the vinyl trimmed really close to the edge or else the excess vinyl would make everything too bulky. The glue holds everything really tight so even if its trimmed really close to the edge it wont pull out.

I dont use a roller, but to get the material to fit into sharp edges like on the design in the headliner or on the moulding I use a dull putty knife. The vinyls not that heavy its glued on to 1/8" board and has that moulding all the way around.
