I have a 07 Explorer with the 4.6 that just developed a problem. It has 75,000 on it and has all of sudden started shaking at idle and accelleration. The accelleration issue doesn't seem to occur until after 45mph. I have cleaned air filter and MAF sensor. Still need to put a code reader on it. I am hoping that someone else may have had the same issue to give me an idea where to start troubleshooting. Any advice will help. Thanks for your time.

 

Plugs and COP's. You can go to autozone/napa and others and they can read the codes and tell you which cylinder is not firing.

 

I put the scanner on the truck and got a code for #4 misfire. I switched coils with #3, cleared the code then drove it agin. Got the same code again #4 misfire. Changed spark plugs and now no more codes and runs better than before. Just wanted to let everyone know in case someone runs across this troubleshooting the same issue.

 

I would suggest a complete plug change. Great results though.
