6.7 Glow Plug dropped ( pic added )

I agree. It isn't too bad, but when you multiply 800 by $15k, that's 12 million bucks. And I'd be surprised if ford can supply AND install a whole new motor for that price.
And would mods affect that. There's the standard things that'll go once you start messing around, but would that blow a valve? I'm going to say a bad batch of valve stems, maybe bad steel or something. Or it could be something as small as the retainers holding the valve in. I'm just hopin for ford that its a very limited problem, because that sure pisses money away in a big hurry.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think Steve's experience isn't normal. My '08 had the engine replaced with 180 miles on the odometer, before I bought it brand-new. The only way I found out was having a friend pull the OASIS report a month after I bought it. Boy was I pissed...

I don't understand how anyone with a 6.7 gets any comfort from saying "well, the valve issue is only in the C&C models". All the 6.7's have the same long blocks. The turbos and the tuning may be different, but the engine internals are not. There are a few threads like this one starting to show up where it is occurring in the pickups as well.
Like a few have asked I wonder if these failures always occur on the same cylinder bank? Possibly related to the heat created by regens?
To my knowledge there has not been a consensus as to what has caused the failures in the C&C models either. Some have theorized there was a bad batch of exhaust valves that missed a step in heat treating, but I have yet to hear this confirmed by any sources from Ford.

This is the side that has the EGR cooler on it? Is this also the bank that does the regen? If this is caused by the regen, ford needs to come up with an alternative method ASAP! Even if it's installing an injector in the exhaust. I'm suprised a cause has not been identified yet. One more question, couldn't the glow plug breaking off and getting caught in the valve, while it's closing, cause it to fracture?

Some people refer to the right side of an engine as the right side when sitting in the truck. I've always refered to the right side as the right side standing in front of the engine so that's the driver's side.
Ford says regen is on the left side of the engine according to the manual and I'm guessing that's the passenger side.
I'm wondering if these failures are all occuring on the passenger side?
