Rancho Skocks

They don't last long and are not very well equipped to control the weight of the truck. After about 50,000 miles everyone should either replace them with new ones or shop for different brands. These trucks handle better with shocks that are very strong at resisting movement.
All my opinions here, but most people agree from what I have read on this site.

Bilstien 5100's or Rancho 9000's is the question?

At 8k miles, I've waited far too long but now have my new shocks on order.
It really is amazing at the seemingly lack of quality on the FX4 shocks that are being put on these trucks. Almost as if Ford expects everyone to replace them right away.

I guess the bean counters won the battle because the stock shocks suck. I don't think there's a single buyer who'd mind paying an extra couple hundred for the new truck and having quality shocks installed at the factory. It seems to me that it might even sell more trucks, certainly the trucks would drive better on a test drive.

I think the 4x4 unbranded shocks are better than the FX4 shocks.
Both experience (although that was a 2007 PSD) and what I read here.
They aren't great by any means but at this point, my future trucks will again be 4x4 package and I'll have someone add skid plates and better shocks if needed.
I would rather have a skid plate over the DFCM anyways and that's not factory.
I was driving a short distance over vines last Saturday and was stopping every few feet to check on things under there.
Good exercise but that's about all I can come up with. I would check on things with skid plates anyways under that situation.

I have one with the fx4 package and one without. The Ford shocks are better than the Rancho crap that came with the fx4. I have 10,000 on the fx4 and 15,000 on the 4x4 package. The 4x4 still rides pretty good, unlike the fx4. I plan on ordering Bilstein 5100 today. I have a buddy who told me he took his 4x4 shocks off and rplaced them, when he did he noticed Bilstein stamped on the inside cover. Supposed to send picture.
