Timing pointer for 302 90 E-150 PICTURE POLL
when doing my timing I was having trouble reading my timing marks with the light because the balancer had rust on it. I cranked the motor a few times until the marks ended up on the bottom, crawled under and wiped them off. Next, I took a orange colored pencil (yep, the crayola kind) and drew lines and numbers for zero degrees, 10 degrees and 11 degrees right on the balancer.
Hooked the timing light up and BAM! clear as day you could see those markings. I ended up setting my timing at 11.5 degrees on a 302 stock. Running 87 octane I have yet to hear a ping.

I am so glad you posted that pic:
I couldn't find my timing marks- I had wondered if that was indeed the pointer but couldn't see anything on the balancer- I guess I need to clean it up.
I usually use little tiny blobs of white-out on the timing marks- stands out really well on the light.
