How can i clean my EGR valve?

Is it easy to clean the EGR valve on the 6.4L? If so, can someone explain how to take it off to clean it.

you don't really need to clean it on the 6.4, its not like the 6.0. Besides I doubt you will be able to get it out, they usually get stuck in there and you have to end up changing out the housing too.

Oh ok cool my Truck is scheduled to go in this week to get the EGR valve replaced, It has been acting up (sticking) I was just curious for in the future if it could be prevented by cleaning it every once in awhile.

unsticking egr valve

My son has 6.4 replaced valve about 1 1/2 years ago was a real pain just started sticking again decided to some trouble shooting since I did not want to go through time consuming process decided to remove the electric motor cover to see if it was stuck motor is a plunger type it was ok,sprayed kroil on stem and pivot took a pair ov vise-grips and grabbed pivot block and began moving up and down till it became free then put agood grade of anti-seeze on stem and pivot block bearing operates very smooth, also smoothed right out engine hope this helps
