Starting problems - 92 F250 5.8
I need some help here! I’ve had a problem with starting; random stalling and a high idle with my truck. I replace the IAC and it seemed to help but didn’t completely fix the problem so I replaced the TPS and it seemed to fix the idle issue. <o></o>

Unfortunately, I occasionally have a starting and or stalling issue. <o></o>
<o></o>
Randomly it will give me trouble. It will either not start unless I let the fuel pump run until it stops which can take 30 seconds if the truck has sat for a while. If it starts, it will idle a little high (1000 rpms) and then drop down to 200-300rpms and back up, if I apply gas at this point, it produces a clunk noise right behind the steering column on the other side of the firewall and it often stalls at this point producing a check engine light. For some reason, I try to starting it 2 mins after it stalls and it will fire up and run just fine. It is very random and I can’t pinpoint the common denominator here. <o></o>

The other day I went to start it and it wouldn’t turn over to save its life but by letting the fuel pump run for about 30 seconds and stop, it fired right up and idled and ran great. <o></o>
<o> </o>
What should I look at next?<o></o>

Thanks for the help<o></o>

It's not throwing any malfunction codes at ya? I am not the "go-to guy" here, but, it could be a combination of items. Do you have a fuel pressure guage to verify the pressure? Fuel pressure regulator? 30 seconds sounds like a long time for the pump to run, it should run like 2-3 seconds, then shut off, I think.
Forgive me, it's been awhile. I had an '89 f-250 4x4 5.8L should be close to the same internally, computer and such. TPS, did you get it set correctly? They like to start in a specific range. Can't remember , but seems like just below .98 volts at closed throttle. Maybe I should shut up now. I don't want to misfeed info to ya.. just trying to help...
