54 F100 build progress report OR don't look if you hate Chevy stuff on a F100

Making some progress. It was pretty fun to drive it around the cul-de-sac.

Just remember, I'm on a tight budget and trying to get this done without my wife noticing.

P1100093.MOV - YouTube

Recent work.
finished the cab and painted it in my garage with some free acrylic enamel paint from work and got the back window and windshield installed.
Replaced the brake master cylinder, booster, and proportioning valve because the one out of the 77 Chevy wagon was shot, booster leaked, proportioning valve was seized up.
Rebuilt the carburetor. I guess sitting around for 15 years is a problem.
Replaced the tranny out of the 77 Chevy wagon with a free 700 R4 that I got from my boss's wrecked Astro van for free.
Got a drive shaft made at Six States from the old pair for only $120.
And got the ignition switch and brake lights and rear turn signals working.

How can you expect us to make fun of it if we don't look?

Impressive!

I am of the ilk that achievement outweighs perfection. I admire your ingenuity and tenacity to bring life back to an old classic on a shoe-string budget.

However, the smile on your face and the pride beaming from your voice may be harder to conceal from your wife than a truck with no doors, lights, or hood cruising your neighborhood.

P.S. My truck has a Chevy engine.

Looking good!

Pay no mind to people complaining on anything you do, cause they always will no matter what you do. The beautiful thing with these old trucks is finding ways to make them work with any part you have. It's your truck, never forget that. Build it like you're the last person on earth cause when it's yours it's not made for everyone else.

So you really think that your dear wife hasn't noticed? Get her involved...put her in the passenger side, strap that seat belt around her and take her for a few turns around the cul-de-sac. I can hear her now..."Honey, that would be a lot more fun if we just spent a little extra and put doors on it."

Nice truck. It sounds great and you've made a lot of progress. Keep on truckin'.

We're like neighbors. I live in Newberg. My daughter live a block south of Morningside Elementary so I dad the driveline made at the Six States on McGilcrest.

Thanks everyone for all the comments. A time or two this forum has kept me going on this.
