So you really think that your dear wife hasn't noticed? Get her involved...put her in the passenger side, strap that seat belt around her and take her for a few turns around the cul-de-sac. I can hear her now..."Honey, that would be a lot more fun if we just spent a little extra and put doors on it."
Nice truck. It sounds great and you've made a lot of progress. Keep on truckin'.

too funny Beaver. Maybe I'll try that - after I get the buckle end of the seat belts installed.
Yes, the wife has noticed the truck. It's been in the garage where her car is supposed to park for going on 10 years. What I'm trying to avoid is her noticing it in the check book.

progress report.
tonight after work I painted the hood - in my garage. Too much crap fell in the paint - should have done a better job sweeping the tarps and cleaning the "paint booth". At lest there are no runs or drips and the specks will buff out next summer. It will be nice to get it installed because I don't have much room for it in the garage and no where to store it. It was jammed in the back of my suburban while I was working on the cab.
Also got the hood hinges installed. Note the home made shoulder bolt. The PO drilled and tapped the blind nuts on the hood for 7/16" bolts. I drilled the hinge holes to 9/16 and made a 7/16 x 9/16 brass bushing. I see in a week or 2 if it works - paint on hood needs to dry.
Also installed the hood lacing - I splurged and bought the ss screws but did';t like the idea of running them into sheet metal right where rain water will soak in so used a cotton ear swab to dob some primer on the pilot hole and run the screw in and hope the primer will seal the hole.

My truck was missing the hood lace, and after the first rain, I found standing water around my #5 and #6 spark plugs (226 I6). I'm not ready to replace the hood lace yet, so I bought some weather stripping from Home Depot for $4 and stopped the "leak".

thanks *****. Yes, the hood is the same color - I guess between the fluorescent lights, white tarp, and my wife's camera it comes out looking gray. The "paint booth" is a 8 x 8 tarped space in my garage and I did shoot the cab there too but had made it about 12 x 8 for that job. I use a box fan with a plastic tube stuck out the side door for ventilation and dust control. My neighbor hasn't complained yet.
A little about the paint color. About 8 years ago a guy at work bought a gallon of NAPA acrylic enamel, a baby blue off the shelf standard color. He intended to paint one of our fleet trucks - not sure what he was thinking because we don't do automotive painting at all at our shop and tend to care less about what our trucks look like. Anyway, I talked my boss into letting me have the paint. Free paint fits my budget. I might have gone with the Sea Sprite green in acrylic urethane if I was going to buy the paint but that might be to "wow - look at me" for my body work and painting skill level.

Dan do you have any pics of your paint booth setup? I would like to paint all the interior and metal mating surfaces myself at home. Assembly the cab and frontsheet metal along with the box and have it painted in a proper paint booth. To scared to attempt that myself!!!
