Continental Contitrac TR Tires
The other day I notice a good 2" jagged slit and multiple smaller slits on the inside tread of the right rear tire. Continental 275 70R/18's. I knew when buying the truck that I would be lucky to get 30,000 miles from them. I only have 16,800 miles on the tires. The dealer has offered to replace it at the 25% pro rated price and not charge me mounting and balancing. Continental Tire Co has said the full warranty is over and I have to pay the 25% pro rated price. Can you guess what tire will not be on my list when I get ready to buy a set of tires? The one slit buries 1/2 of a dime!

Ah...Green Acres...near my old stomping grounds. Do yourself a favor and ditch the Conti's...they are good for running down the highway, and they are quiet, but I have been stuck with them on wet grass. I actually got about 40K on mine before I switched tires, and I probably could have gone another 10k except for the upcoming winter weather here.
You could have your affected tire dismounted and inspected thoroughly for damage...and you might get by with it for a while. But if you run with heavy loads in your truck or tow at all I would not chance it. Good luck!
