how to I know the rear gear ratio on my 1992 ford f150 4x4?
I have a 1992 Ford F150 Custom 4x4 with the 5.0 and 5-speed manual. Without taking anything apart can i find out the gear ratio for it? i do not have the owners manual but does it say on the truck somewhere?

There should be an ID tag on the rear axle on the girdle held on by one of the girdle bolts. Probably says something to the tune of 3L55 which would be 3.55 gears.

Ford Axle Code Chart .: Articles Look at the axlw code on your door sticker and compare with this chart (ignore where it says 1991).
