They wanted you to pay the cost of a mid level ford focus for a new engine???? Holy crap

Injector Tip's breaking seem to be the common demise of the 6.0 from reading on here.
Is there a way to prevent this or catch it early

It's not really that common. Generally, but not always, there are signs leading to the ultimate failure. We will often replace just the piston and head for people...

Gerry,
I personally am NOT having any issues but it seems as if we've read this Injector Tip problem a few times recently (Chris & Sparky come to mind) if Iam not mistaken.

Iam just curious if the Injector had been showing signs of failure but was left alone, ultimately causing catastrophic failure OR does this just happen without warning

It happened to my wife going down the road with no apprent warning that she could see.

Well this turns into this >>>

And then this>>>>>>

The shop turns into this to find this>>>>>>

The tip ^^^^^^ in the piston.....

To end up with a shiny motor

I think I will be putting in new injectors every 100'000, this happened at 110'000

Damn that sucks, maybe the Tip's just get fatigued over time & now that I have like 126k maybe I should consider upgrading Injectors

I'll just tell the wife that we don't want this to happen so I need new "bigger" Injectors

155cc injectors
