Criminy, this build can't be more than 40 miles from me here in Benton City. Wouldn't mind swinging by to check it out.

Bumpin' cuz we want an update...
well unfortunately I have this huge speed bump to all my other projects in my shop...(VW Baja) and it needs to go away. I've had no motivation to work on it other then just to get it to out of my shop but that hasn't been enough until lately. Finally seeing progress....not the update you were looking for but it is an update.

great work , cant wait to see it finished
You and me both....Thanks!!!

I had an old parts hood that had a bunch of dents and rust and I was cleaning out the part shed so it was time for it to go. before I tossed it I pulled the "FORD" emblems off the front and almost left the side badges as they looked really faded and were so dirty that I didn't think they were any good. But I pulled them and cleaned them up just to make sure and after a quick paint job on one I was sure glad I did as they look great and will be going on my truck when it's done...

Great build! I have a 83 Flareside that I was in the middle of swapping a 5.0 coyote and 4r70w in until I found my frame is bent. I'm thinking about doing a 83 body on a 03 frame. Both are 2wd single cab short beds. The 70s f100 and 80s f100 frames look similar. Any thoughts on my build before I get started would be greatly appreciated. (I'm hoping my cab bolts will line up with new frame as your front ones did)

Well I never did much research on the 80's chassis as the 2002 kinda fell in my lap and I just went all in on it after I couldn't find anyone who had tried it. The 1997 - 2003 chassis taper at the rear so nothing on the bed lines up and wheel base is another thing to think about. You may have to chop the frame or relocate the rear end to make sure the wheels are in the wheel wells. There is a shop (V8TV) who are also doing the same swap as mine "kinda" short bed 69 (I think) onto a 2003 lighting chassis and they relocated the rear end and lined up everything by moving it forward. (their build is posted on here as well.) You will have to build your own bumper mounts and I'm sure a few other things as you go along but that's to be expected when doing this kind of swap. If I could do it over again the one thing I would do different would be to keep as mush as possible from the vehicle that I got the chassis from, until the project was done. As you go along you can keep it as a reference as to how the factory did it and there might be a simple bolt on fix or another part you need to solve a problem you run into. My project however has been financed by parting out the 2002 so I didn't have much of a chance to think of that until it was too late.

Hope this helps...

just as long as it's a children's novel. That way it can still have pictures...LOL

Wheels are an improvement but a bit much. 2003-04 stock lightning wheels would be perfect imho. Excellent build!

Love the project

Wish I could see all of the pics, all I see is a photobucket add where the pic should be!! lol Considering a donor 99 with 5.4 for my 49 F1 project! Just a little Leary of the wiring!

Yeah sorry, Photobucket is requiring an "upgrade" to continue hosting photos. A few years back I paid them $40 to keep the photos up but the new up grade is $400 for one year!!! sorry I will be spending that on the truck not "PhotoRipOff"

I noticed this forum allows me to go back and edit all of my post on here so maybe I can load the photo's from my computer when I have time to find all of them.

Photobucket will get theirs , they will cash in on a couple people for the $400. most will run and find another place to host pics , then P/B will be no more
