Ford Trucks in the Woods

On the islands, it's not a rain forest, it's a rain jungle.
Over here on the eastern, rust free, desert side, not so much.
I'll guarantee some of those trucks, there isn't enough left to pick and move with a shovel. Ghosts and shadows of their former selves. They are best left to 'rust in peace.'

I had a parts truck that didn't have any where near as bad of rust as these and I can imagine that you start pulling on stuff and they just crumble and fall apart, (at least any body panels and thinner metal. maybe an axle could have held up ok? in that if it had some oil and grease protective coating on it??
my email is jfmadsen at yahoo dot com
Did you say the ferry fees are for a round trip? I was just looking at the fees and depending on your total vehicle length with trailer could be maybe $50-90 but varies by Island.. what Island are they on?
Thanks
Josh
Stu, I don't know if there's anything on that truck I would ever need??? pretty much the Axles are probably the only thing maybe saveable.
that would be a fun trip up there, I've been to Seattle probably 15-16 years ago and remember going out to one of the Islands (really pretty up there)

San Juan Island-Lime Kiln State Park: If you walk down the trail from the visitors center to the lighthouse, there's a home to your right. Parked there is a 1953 F100 & 1955 F100 Panel, both restored.
At the end of Cattle Point Road is a 'decent' 1965 Mercury M100 Styleside parked at a residence.
Twisp WA: 1956 Ford COE wrecker parked at a repair shop, southside of town are dozens of old piles parked in a field including a C600, 1958 F600 flatbed, early 1950's Dodge wrecker.
Northside of town, a 1930 Model AA flatbed is 20' up...atop a sign.
Brewster WA heading NE: Northside of the hwy is all sorts of old farm equipment and an ancient AC Mack Bulldog parked in sheds.
There are 100's of old piles east of North Cascades Nat'l Park on Hwy: 20, 153, 155 and 17 including ancient tractors, many just sittin' there rustin' away.
7/21-8/7: Spent 17 days in WA. While "She, who must be obeyed" drove, I looked at the scenery, old rolling piles of misery scenery...that is.

I sent 51PanelMan and Josh's contact info to the owner.
The trucks are on Orcas Island. There is a guy on the island who makes part of his living hauling vehicles off the island to sell for scrap. You might ask the owner about that if you don't want to pick it up yourself.
Hopefully at least one of these trucks will get rescued, although I think 52merc is correct that most are too far gone for anything but a few parts.
I probably won't monitor this thread anymore. If someone wants me to pass along contact info, send me an email at grancoupe1970 at hotmail dot com.

I do come off the island every so often with an empty equipment trailer. I go to the mainland to pick up timbers from old buildings which I re-saw on my bandsaw mill for use in furniture and cabinetry. I think my '92 which is 4x4 would drag a truck up out of that hole maybe after the muck dries out a bit.......I will talk to Eric about the panel seats. I guess I don't have to rush out and get more photos. Nice job!
