52 Flathead rebuild

Is there anybody in the Pittsburgh/Greensburg area that can rebuild a flathead V8 and knows what they are doing?

There was a thread on Ford Barn asking for recommendations on shops, and I copied these. No personal experience obviously, but the recommendations were supposed to be based on experience. The thread was quite a while ago, but it would give you a start. You can also check with your local Early Ford V8 Club to see who they recommend.

Fred’s Engine Service, 40 Years in business, Chester Co., PA, 610-383-7674 (Note: When I talked to this guy on the phone he did not seem receptive to doing all machining and letting me assemble engine)

Bill Gettle Automotive, Lebanon, PA 717 273-7619

High Tech Machine Shop, Lehighton PA., 570 386 3388 the guys name is Dave.

Pine View Engine Shop 717-147-2322 (W.H. Hall) RD 2, Box 401-C, Montgomery, PA 17752

J&B Automotive Machine Limited 717-393-3889(Bob Malard) 10-10:30 PM, PA

Ross, I know you are way out there in New Mexico and don't know the geography of PA well, but these are all in the eastern part of the state.

I'm not much help as I don't know of any near Pittsburgh.

But let me throw this one in the mix, also from the eastern half of the state. Obers Performance, 1391 Furnace Hills Like, Lititz, PA. 717-626-4293.

Barry Ober rebuilt the 239 Yblock in my 54 F100 in 1979 and it is still running great! As far as flatheads Barry did work on my brother's flathead in his 53 F600. Ober's has a Facebook page you can find. I just saw a picture there of them tearing down and boring a flathead from a 52 Ford.

I hope you find a good machine shop near you but Ober's is just a trip east on the turnpike from Pittsburgh.
