New BFG KO's feel like dooky
#16
I had the same issue with my BFG T/A Ko when I first got them. Though I was going to have to get the front end looked at it drove so badly. Took them out on some country dirt roads and scuffed up the new rubber real good, get some of the oil they use while making them and the stuff the tire guy sprays on to make them all shiney off of them. They felt much better after that. The tire shop only put 45psi in them I have added 5 to that.

I agree with all of you and appreciate the insight. No arguing and carrying on about what is better and stuff and junk. I will keep my results posted. I am going to let them cool this evening and leave the front at 61 psi because they are solid yet all tread is touching the ground. I am going to raise the back to an even 55 which is 4 psi higher than now. I drove it home from work and no dooky-ish-nish going on at all. I'm happy. However, if I can get a little more PSI until the dooky-ish-nish starts again then I can go back to my highest PSI in the rear without dooky-ish-nish just to help with MPG. Maybe to low the side walls are too soft causing it, too high and I'm only riding on 4 inches of tread? Makes sense to me anyway. I'll keep it going until you all get bored talking about air pressure in tires. Then perhaps we'll start on how a BP egr cooler, new oil cooler, and coolant filter will affect my brand new extended warranty. Yeah, I'll pick your brains about that next. Because I'm ready to do it but I must do it outside of my warranty, most likely myself.

I ended up getting back up to 65 front and rear. It feels pretty good, but I started getting a little sloppy-niss around 62 psi in the rear. I think I could safely max the fronts out not problem. But the rears with no weight seem to be over inflated at around 62-65 psi. I know what ford recomends with a stock contitrac, but these aren't contitracs and Ford sometimes recommends a few things that are questionable. So I'm happy between 65-75 front and 60 ish rear unloaded, pulling the camper I'll bump the rears up to 80. I have noticed no MPG difference between tires and psi's. I'm still getting around 15.5 MPG driving the way I do (very slow starts and stops, never over 65 mph) to work and back. Thanks for everyones opinions.

I switched to Mastercraft last year made by Cooper, but I've never had any luck with General, Cooper, BFG, Goodyear.......... my stock tire ...235/85/16 load range E always what the door says 65 in front 80 in rear, I still have not figured out how Mastercraft can be made by Cooper and be superior, but then again not every pair of work boots I try on fit my feet. All I can say is Mastercraft work for me after years of trying, funny thing is they don't advertise, but have been around for ever.
