One of my boxes did look like it was straight out of Ace Ventura tho
I am having a heck of a time finding new spindle studs. I have found a few that say they are for D44/50/60 however some of the guys on FSB seem to have found issues with them. A few recomend jsut running Grade 8 bolts/nuts....tempting. Have anyone else done this?

Ok, well I was looking around and called Parts Mike. They have a set of 5 with the nuts. Ms Clause snagged my computer while I was away and ordered them for me.
Its better to have the right parts. I think bolts would work, and if I only needed one or two studs I'd prolly have no issues running some grade 8 bolts for awhile.
I have the knuckles stripped and down to bare metal, they are being prepped for paint as I type Pics to come later.

I didn't do the ball joints at the time. I thought about it, but for some reason I decided against it. I got 2 new knuckles so that I could have the ball joints already pressed in. That way I can pull the old ones off and pop the new ones on right away. I was just going to get the one I hadn't replaced yet, but the seller on Ebay had matching spindles off the same truck. I got both for $50 shipped. Would have been 40 for just the one.

I started my work today by wire brushing the knuckles down to get all the gunk off.

I was lucky and my friends at Advance let me borrow a ball joint tool. However, the bottom ball joints can be removed with some LIGHT loving taps from a hammer.

Here's a side by side comparison of the stock ball joints next to the Moog ball joints. I need to get some of that sweet blue grease for when I actually install these on the truck. I imagine its synthetic.

Here's the final shot of today. The black is only a quick coat of lacquer to keep things from rusting until I coat it with CARC paint like the rest of my frame.

Wasn't too bad of a job. I am thankful tho that I was able to get this done prior to tearing my truck apart just in case something goes wrong. Besides, now I have a spare set of knuckles
Till next time

I actually called moog. They told me its just a synthetic grease with "Molly" in it. The guys at Advance helped mr look through every tube they had till we found 2a that specifically listed with Molly. Both were Valvoline. I chooses one and guess what? Is was discontinued so i got the tube for a nickle.
