LEAD SLED BLUES
Is there any help for my 95 4.9l A40D ??? with 3.08's it's like driving a VW bug(1954)? Just wondering if any one else out there has been sad with the lack of performance of the one truck they love. sorry for the mush but I'm always wondering how come I feel like the slowest truck on the road! Yea I'm new but i can't be the only one?

My 95 4x2 300 Sc Sb 5 speed with the 3.08s is not fast but its quick enough. My 92 Rc Lb work truck had the same ratio but had an auto and it was pretty slow to get going but had long legs on the highway.
My 94 Rc Sb had the 3.55s which made it easier to drive around town, but my 95 300 is stronger than the 94 300 and the 92. Gas mileage between the two trucks (94/95) was almost the same (16-20)

thanks for the words of kindness, I was thinling that mine was the only one and there for had no hope. don't get me wron, I love this box stock truck of mine but every once in awhile I would like to think I could "move on out' with out spending more money than just getting another one with a V8. well I will just keep on searching for the trick set up.....maybe some nitrous or???!!!

SLow to get up!
I have the same basic setup....300 I6 94 A4OD 4x4 3.08s open, yet have gone to 10.50x31 A/T Tires, and it really needs help. Once its rollin though it runs pretty good until you get into some grades, thed it will start hunting gears.
Im thinking about going to 3.73 or 4.10 ratios, yet these axles are hard to come by.
My MPG is 12/15 currently. I dont think the engine ever really gets in it's power band before it shifts due to lack of torque.
Just not sure if 4.10s would maybe be to short for highway?????

I have noticed a BIG difference between the auto and a manual trans with this engine.
With an OD trans and stock tires I wouldn't want to go lower than 3.55s if you do a lot of highway driving. I shift this truck just like a diesel to take advantage of is low end torque. My 300s have responded well to low resistance ignition wires, plugs gapped to .050, and a good cap/rotor. I use Rotella 10w-40 when hauling and whatevers on sale in 10w-30 the rest of the time.
