Interesting to see so many younger folks with F series pickups......I cannot find the article written by the Early Ford V8 Club, but they cited their average age to be in the Mid-70s which denotes fewer younger folks entering the hobby. Sounds like our F-Series love affair will be kept alive for a long time to come!!!
I think the early v8 club's numbers are not a good indicator of youngster's involvement in the hobby. Today's youth join a club like his one right here. FTE. Don't need any 'meetings' and certainly no paper newsletters or magazines. I was a member of Branch 26, Early Day Tractor and Machinery Association for many years. We met at the old grange hall in Alger Wa. Each meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and then went to the secretary reading the minutes of last month's meeting. Potluck at noon. Fire up our latest finds in the parking lot after lunch. Now that was a real club. I'm glad I had that experience, but this is much easier to get to from an island, and I don't have to wait a month to pick someone's brain on how to fix stuff!
...I'm 62 ... BUT, my mind still thinks I'm 17, my artheritis feels like I'm 162 ... but still having fun with them neat ol trucks....
had the 46 Mercury for 8 years
Had the 47 ford since 1979...
...Had the 56 Towmater since 1994...
...And the panel truck for 5 years... future project...
I posted before, but wasn't real clear. I traded my '50 F6 dumptruck for a '47 Ford tudor sedan. I then got my Uncle's '49 F6 158" home finally, and the '48 F1 is still on the frame rotisserie waiting to get blasted and painted (buried in a snowbank 'til June). The parts F1 might get traded to irondragon for his telephone bed. I've got other projects in waiting, but figured I got nothing but time, at 43.
Oh, and now I'm looking at a '48-50 panel truck, pretty rough, but we'll see.
