Overbore...
Ford FE's generally do not like that much of an overbore. Your .040 is about all most will take, you can however sonic check the walls to see if it can take some more. Before another overbore I would definitely do a sonic check. The crank should go .020 with no problems, I've seen them with .030 under, but if it can stay at .010 under with just a polish, that would be better. BTW, you are making quick work of your drive train rebuild, makes me want to do mine. I have a 77 Highboy, but with a 351M. Wish it had an FE, as I have more experience with them.

Thanks for the info Kuch ! but I've got no choice on 60 over. I talked with the machine shop about that right off the bat and he seemed to think it would be fine , of coarse he's earning some money doing it , so we'll just have to see if it can handle it. it'll be a good research project , if it blows we'll tear it apart and run a thread about it, we'll all learn somethin !

The more I tinker, the more I like to make everything instead of buying stuff. I take a certain pride in saving money as well as getting something EXACTLY the way I want it.

Highboy- your new truck has some sort of emblem on the rear end of the bed, I dont suppose you could get a picture of it for me please? I am mostly just curious what it is. Anyway nice to see you have finally seen the light . Really though that is one Nice Bowtie! You do good work on the old metal.

and no there isn't any tricks to the T-case, assuming youv'e got the 205. first of all its easy to get to, its just hanginthere underneath waitin to be dropped out , unlike your tranny thats burried . you'llneed a 1-5/16" socket for the shaft nuts , preferably an impact wrench, radio playin your favorite music at about 98% volume , a cold six of your favorite beveridge, and this link to an excellent step by step (with pics) on how to do it.
