2008 F 450

Hey im looking into a 2008 F450 with 55,000km on it,8L axle code.not that this matters but its a King Ranch,Green in color.Build date is 03-07 what is the difference with the job numbers ive read about??Or should i stay away from this thing. It was a lease return so all the issues should be dealt with prior to a sale. The dealer asking price is $$40,000 cdn. Thanks for your time....Paul

This is a job 1 truck like mine. The 8L is the 4.88 rear end and was only offered part of the year everything else came with the 4.30 I believe. I went from a 08 3.73 F350 swr to my 08 4.88 F450. Because of the rear end the truck makes more road noise because it runs about 400 rpm higher at 65mph. They also come with a governor that will not let the truck go faster than 81 mph. The engines and problems if any are the same in all 08 to 10 trucks. Just to nick pick a job 1 truck will have a smaller chin spoiler under the front bumper. Ask the dealer for an Oasis report for this truck so you can see what has been done to it. As far as price goes I think it's a little high and suggest you look on Ebay. I paid $34,000 two years ago when the truck had 14,000 miles on it from a dealer on line but it's a Lariat not a KR. However I just drove by the King Ranch in south Texas that the truck is named after.

I have a job 3 2008 F450 with 20k miles on it. It is used exclusively to pull 17k lb trailer. It's been trouble free (unlike my 03 F250). I believe job 1 trucks can have the back up sensors while they were deleted from job 3. I was told it was because job 3 introduced the 5 minute idle shut off "feature" and the 2 are incompatible (doesn't make sense to me unless they used some of the wiring the backup sensors needed). FYI, they all have the 80 mph limiter. I also think the price is high. I would think you could get this truck for at least 5k less.

Huh? I have a job 3 '08 and it certainly has backup sensors. Quite handy. And what is this 5 minute idle shutoff you mention? I try not to let mine idle more than I have to bit I've for sure exceded 5 minutes on more than one occassion and I've never had the truck shut off.

I think the idle shut-off is for California trucks. I have an '08 F-450, best truck I've ever had. King Ranch, 4.30 axle ratio. I recently had the latest PCM flash and truck runs great.

Ive been speaking to the saleman today with some questions about the truck, like were is the spare tire,it doesnt have one.he told me that they never came with a spare and because my dually is the same that i can take the spare from mine.Thats just too funny.ill copy the email he sent me after i requested all the repairs, services etc on the truck since new.......
"""I checked our service records - they changed lots of bulbs, repaired the
compass, repaired the front tire - filled with nitrogen, clean the exhaust
filter. There was no major work done on the Engine - because its under
warranty."""Im sure there is a record of all warranty work,im suspicious or maybe he doesnt understand.Im going on sunday to go test drive make some sort of deal..................Paul

Again ask for the oasis report on the truck. This will show work done at every dealer the truck was at.

Sorry to hear you lost the truck. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. I lost a couple that I really liked before I got mine so I know the feeling

You are right, I am in California and the 5 min shutoff may be CA only. We always get the good stuff!!
