Could also try the obvious...a Ford Dealer's parts department.

1986 F250: There are 3 different starter solenoids: (1) 300/302/351W / (1) 420 (6.9L) diesel / (1) 460.

Autoparts stores prolly only list one, a made in China el cheapo POS

Did'ja know that Chinese steel has about 45% of the tensile strength as US steel does?

This is one a the reasons why Chinese parts fail.

Bill, you took the words right outta my mouth, so to speak.
In other words, you said what I was implying, go to the dealer for a genuine Ford/Motorcraft part, and be done with it. At least they don't sell cheap chineese made crap, yet....... Hopefully, they never will.

Well after putting a ground from the battery post to by the rad, from bat post to frame, from frame to block and block back to bat post, one from intake to firewall, intake to wiper motor, and adding number 5 starter selinoid i still got the dreaded "CLICK"

Bit the bullet... Took starter off of it and went and had it tested. Tested fine. But bought a new one just for the hell of it. Went home, put it in and yeah, started right up.

At least the motor wont fall out if my motor mounts break and i roll it over. Theres enough ground straps to hold it in there.

Good luck at the sand pit. I broke a motor mount at a mud festival last weekend and had to tow it home. Cost me 90 bucks on top of having to pay the 15 bucks it to to get in the place but had a lot of fun.

My front tank don't work. It's not even in the truck any more. I found through LMC truck a 40 gallon tank set up for my truck and it came with everything I needed to hook it up. That would be a good place to go if junkyards are charging to much. I picked mine just a little over $200.

I have a front tank from a 94 f250. Over all dimensions are the same. Will it work for me?

Look it over good. These newer truck tend to be different in ways just to meet emission requirements.

Something happened to the fuel pump... This is when i realized there were holes in the tank. i dont know if there is a hole in a line somewhere also, but it quit pumping fuel and just started pushing air. IDK if a new gas tank will fix this or if there is something else going on.

Also, a couple times when i shut it down when it was running, the motor would spin real fast in the reverse of what it spins while running and shoot fuel out of the top of the carb. Why would it do that?

Timiming is at 10 btdc. I think. What is the correct way to set the timing on a carb'd motor? Is there a way to disable ignition advance like there is on the FI models? And how do you set the idle as it does seem to idle a bit high, although i cant really tell with open headers...

Should be installing the tank tomorrow to see if ican get fuel to the carb

Who would have thought that trying to run on a rear tank that is empty wouldn't run the truck?! Selector switch was fliped to the rear. I couldnt find it at all and never knew it would be by the HVAC controls

Now how about that timing and idle adjustment?

I Still feel like an idiot
