Hey jim as far as boots go chippewa's are still made in the good old USA I am pretty sure. I just bought a new pair about 6 months ago and I love them. And for cordless drills and cordless tools in general I wish we could buy American still. I am a plumber and we use cordless tools every day and have gone through several kits of various brands. Some reason we keep going back to dewalt because they seem to last the longest for us. I feel they have the best sawzall atleast because that is what we always wear out first. ( not very easy on those things lol)

That's what I thought, too. I have some Hitachi tools and that was the first one I went and looked at. MADE IN CHINA. WTH?
None of the drills says Made in Taiwan, all are MIC.

I was told some Redwing boots are still USA made, I need to look into it further.

I will also see where to find the other brands you guys mentioned. Hopefully somewhere local.
Thanks.

Only certian RW's are made in the US still.
the Irish Setters are all made overseas and a vast majority of their normal store lines. You'll have to go to an actual red wing shop to find any USA made ones, the stores mostly carry china made stuff.

Snap On makes a small drill, which is actually really nice.
Its like a pocket size thing, but its snap on, so it rocks. I dont' have a link for it though.

Snap-on Online Tool Catalog

There i was nice and looked.
I dont see the one i'm talking about, but the site is also not loading things correctly for me. The javascript wont work. NO idea whats up with that.

What about Sears brand cordless tools? Haven't investigated them but I haven't seen anyone else mention them.

That's probably a good thing! It's the one in the third row down in the middle of the screen on the link you posted. The ones with the ridiculously long toes on them. I think that would make it a bit tough to drive my truck, or pee standing up for that matter!!

the drill thing I can't help you with but here is what I know about the Red Wings, from what I was told the last year when I bought a new pair that any boot wearing the "Red Wing" badging is still manufactured here in the states but they do make boots over seas but they bear the "Worx" badging. supposedly Red Wing would not put their name on a boot they did not make here in the U.S.

I bought a sears cordless kit (drill, sawzall, skillsaw, etc.) a couple years ago and won't buy one again. Maybe for home use, but for sure not for commercial use. Poor set of cordless tools. I like sears for my other tools, just bought some more sockets and wrenches lately and all were stamped made in the usa. I don't care where the cordless ones are made, they are no good.
