New Guy

Hello Folks,
New old Guy from England now living in the frozen north.
Been into late 20's early 30's Fords for a few years but now working on a 1951 F3 for my son.
Trying to shoehorn a 460/C6 into it so looking for past experiences, problems with the swap.
Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum! I don't have any personal experience installing the big block in that truck, but I know it is very tight, but will fit. There's a couple of other guys here that have done the job, so hopefully they'll chime in with some words of wisdom.

Cheers!

A few more.
Need to notch the frame for rear end clearance so had to make a couple of notches.

Started measuring and mocking up the 4 link and panhard.

And more.
Got the boxing plates partially welded in so the 4 link brackets and panhard can be put into place.

Only a few more...I promise.
After nearly 3 hours of fighting with 4 bolts holding the cab on finally got it moved so I can work on the engine and trans x members.
Had a pair of fancy schmancy coilover brackets 'fabricated' and welded in place.

Try and get the 460 in place this weekend.

Welcome to FTE! Looks like good progress on the project so far. Even the new newbies seem to have an easier time than me posting up the pics. Keep those pics coming... love to see them.

Sat looking at this last night with a nice cold beer and decided it's going to be easier to start from new ( I was trying to keep the stock brake pedal assmbly and bracket) so I Ripped all the old brackets and trans xmember out and dropped the 460 in.The engine mount is temporary.

Finished the welding on the rear end and gave it a quick coat of 'Regal' red.
A friend came round and welded the bottom of the boxing plates so I got it painted and the fuel tank in for good.
Got the brake booster in place so I can figure the trans x member.
Also changed the oil pan for a rear sump so it clears the tie rod.
