Thinking about buying a newer one and value your thoughts

Honestly, if you want a nice all around truck, the 05-07 SD are very nice. I get to drive quite a few different ones because I work on them, and overall (I don't know about the 08-10s) they ride great, handle nice, have lots more creature comforts, etc... I think you would be very happy with one.
As far as the 6.0L, they are better than their reputation, especially if they get some basic improvements. Egr deletes are best (cause they eliminate a lot of potential issues) but they are not a must. Neither are Head Studs for a stock truck, but I would highly recommend them if possible.
The Torqshift tranny is awsome!!!!! 5 gears! Woo Hoo!!!!!
Good luck with whatever you get!

Good Sunday Morning all
I really appreciate all of the discusion as this has gave me a lot to think about. Loved the sinner comment and really appreciated someone have the cojones (ha thats the jone co. not spanish) to mention the Duramax. I have a friend that has one of those the water pump change a bout whipped him.
I am a looking and studying everything posted. I know what I am up against in buying newer than mine but older truck; but that does not scare me. I think I know my way around a diesel truck pretty good so assessing its condition and mods and improvements needs is not a issue.
But I do have a higher intrest in the newer 7.3
I will say I have even looked at some Dodges. OOPS antother Sinner and its Sunday!!!
Please excuse. But more on the serious side - Thanks members for posting and keeping the discussion alive. A few of you have asked the others who posted here to explain somethings further. I too am curious.
I need more room for the 5th wheel I also want to drop a tank in the rear bed and need more load capcity so thats one of the reasons for the 350. I am not intrested in moding out the 250 anymore for towing. Now I may do some for toying with the 250-- hmmmm-- Yep I can do that. Especially if I have the other truck first. Then the wife wont complain about everything as we will use the newer one to running around the country,
I really would rather have a 350 that some old timer bought and never modded out. Then I can do the changes myself to it. I dont trust some of these DIY modders.
Reps sent where I can. Keep the ideas flowing and THANKS!

Well it looks like I may be one of the few to step out on this one, lol..
The ranch I work for are all Ford nuts, and diesel nuts too! We have a newer ranch truck that was picked up last year, a 2008 6.4 F-250. Now, when it comes to issues, I did the DPF delete, and will be going to do the EGR delete next. I already got the Max tuner put on, and I must say I am amazed! Aside from now getting 15 mpg, and 13 loaded heavy, this is a monster! I never turn on the wild side tunes, simply because at mild I can send the truck sideways in any condition no matter what! Its wild!
We do put the trucks through there paces out here! There is a 34 mile stretch of ranch road we have before getting to pavement, that has ruts deep enough ranging from 1 foot to just over 2 feet, due to weather and that we are the only road maintenance crews. We haul a 15 horse trailer in and out of here often with it, along with a good sized tandom duals flatbed, hauling the Great Bend loader around. This, among other strange things, this truck gets beat on pretty heavily. The ranch wife tends to not pay attention to the temp gauge when she is towing, so she's cooked it a couple times, but it still goes!
I dont like all the plastics inside and out, but its holding up so far.
I would consider one of these over the 6.0, especially the early model ones. The only counter interest, would be cost. For some reason these 08s and newer are expensive!
