Anybody have any experience with Champion Radiators?

Hey all

I'm getting ready to buy a radiator for my '73. Looking on ebay, there's some pretty good prices on what look to be mostly either Silla products or Champion cooling systems. The Champions actually look like a really nice radiator. I know a lot of people have bought aluminum radiators this way, and most seem to be happy. So, who's bought a Silla? Two or three row? Whose bought a Champion? How'd they fit? Which ebay seller/store did you use? Were they decent, or fly-by-night-crooks?

I just replied to an old thread that Bullitt 390 had contributed to along the same lines...

Thanks for the help guys

I bought the champion radiator and ended up sending it back and going back to a copper/brass radiator from O'reillys. I am very happy with my decision after i had convinced myself aluminum was the way to go and now i will never buy an aluminum radiator again. I have nothing bad to say about champion i just like what i have a lot better. The copper/brass even looks better in my opinion and they are also bigger than the champion. Just my .02 cents.

Depending on what you are looking to do with your truck, I would recommend the 3 core over to two to prevent overheating. As for the aluminun over traditional, depends on whether you are turning this in to a street rod or just a daily driver. I would agree that the traditional looks better and just a a flex fan to the 3 core and you'll never need to worry about your cooling system other than normal maint. Good luck with your choice & hope this helps.

I have went with a alum rad and electric fan set up and think its the best thing I ever did. Have not used chapion or silla my first alum rad was from be cool, expensive at about 350 dollars it was bolt in and a cross flow, it with the fan keeps my 72 from ever getting to halfway on the temp scale (72 says temp on the gauge not normal). My second alum rad was from summit, price was ok at 219.00 but it was universal fit so I had to make my own mounts, and I didn't like the way tanks looked they were pressed one peice units that looked kind of thin but I used it. The rad lasted 8 years, I just had a leak in the core last winter and had to have the core sealed, I know a rad guy so it wasn't a issue.

I paid $222.24 at O'Reillys and that was with tax and shipping to the store/part# 433545 and it also includes a lifetime warranty. Its a well built radiator and keeps my 400 cool with no problems.

Totally pleased with my Champion. Quality of welds are great, affordable price and cools great, a little too good in the winter.

I got one a while back, it fit perfectly! Nice radiator and does an excellent job! Couldn't ask for more than I got with this radiator..
